Find out about the latest news in FEN

In March this year, students, professors, and staff had to physically leave the buildings and classrooms at FEN to begin a period of online study and remote work. Although it has not been easy, thanks to everyone´s commitment and effort, we have managed to implement a remote working system and online classes, which have rapidly adapted to the global health situation.

Our students were given all the necessary technological tools to catch up with this new reality: More than 100 chips, 77 notebooks, 66 notebooks with Wi-Fi connection, 12 iPads and 137 routers were distributed throughout Chile for those who needed them. Likewise, the psychological support program (PAS) continued its important work online, and multiple training programs were carried out to take advantage of virtual classes. A special website was set up that brings together the main COVID news for our community: covid19.fen.uchile.cl.

In the academic sphere, to facilitate the learning process, it was decided that the Summer Semester 2021 would be offered to students at no cost and with an increase in the number of available courses compared to previous years.

For our staff, a technological and psychological support program was put in place with online talks and sports classes.

For academics, training in new technologies has been intense, as has distance support, and participation in daily webinars to analyze contingent issues relevant to the internal community and public opinion from different perspectives. For its part, the Graduate School has intensified support for its students and graduates with employability coaching, online courses and a wide variety of short talks to offer updates and tools in the current situation.

Unegocios, a unit belonging to the Business Administration Department at FEN, in partnership with the Santiago Chamber of Commerce, offered free online courses for SMEs, training more than 600 people. The courses that were taught free of charge were Marketing and Sales, Business Strategy, Process Design, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Business Administration and Decision Skills and Problem Solving. In addition, they opened up their social networks to support entrepreneurs selling home delivery products belonging to the student and alumni community.

Along the same lines, the MyPES platform was created by the Undergraduate School, bringing together community partners who have links with the School, through its Social Responsibility and University Sustainability (RSSU) Unit, thereby encouraging responsible and conscious consumption.
